Course Description
A genuine seaside links, Humewood was designed by Colonel SV Hotchkin. It is considered his finest work and was first opened for play in October 1931. Unlike many of its British equivalents, it has two separate nines coming back to the clubhouse. The back nine has been built in bigger dunes, and has the more attractive holes. The course is surrounded by coastal bush and, although it is close to the centre of Port Elizabeth, one sees very little evidence of human encroachment. Humewood is characterised by sand dunes, thick coastal bush, swales, humps and hollows. The course is right next to Algoa Bay and wind is frequently a factor to take into consideration.
