Course Description
The KwaZulu Natal North Coast, which is lined with golden beaches, nature reserves and excellent fishing, has become a popular destination for tourists. The Umhlali Country Club is a gem. Umhlali, just 20 minutes drive north of Durban is a scenic undulating course in a tropical garden setting. The Umhlali Country Club is one of the oldest and the most picturesque on the north coast of Natal. This has a lot to do with the fact that Peter Matkovitch, who is one of South Africa’s top course designers, is based at the club and has managed to further improve what was already an interesting and very popular 18-hole layout. Although not a very long course, the holes are cleverly designed and varied, providing a fair golfing test. Indigenous vegetation is predominant at some of the holes, with others featuring mainly palms and water hazards. The 19th hole is one of the best liked holes on the course.
