Situated in the scenic valley of the Central Drakensberg , approximately 2 ½ hrs drive from Durban International Airport and 3 ½ hrs drive from Johannesburg . With a dramatic backdrop of the Champagne and Cathkin Peaks , this resort, inspired by the beauty of its surroundings, is renowned for its friendly hospitality, outstanding cuisine, cosy pubs, breathtaking views, luxurious accommodation and outstanding facilities including an 18-hole championship golf course.

GOLF COURSES:

Bosch Hoek Country Club:
Bosch Hoek, meaning "corner of the bush" was first settled as a farm in 1852. In 1951 it was acquired by the late Punch Barlow who together with Bob Grimsdell designed and developed the golf course. The first shot was played in 1963. The course measures only 5 840 metres, certainly on the short side when one considers that Bosch Hoek's elevation above sea level is about 1000m. The layout is rated a 68, but with the pins hidden away and the grainy cynoden greens speeded up, this would be a tough task for the scratch player. The estate is conveniently positioned at Balgowan near Howick, just a four hour drive from Johannesburg or a leisurely one and a half hour drive from Durban .

Champagne Sports Country Club:
Put your skills to the test on our 18-hole championship golf course, designed by Hugh Baiocchi to provide an exciting challenge whatever your handicap. Set against the magnificent backdrop of Champagne and Cathkin Peaks , this course offers the golfer not only a superb challenge of golf on a perfectly manicured layout but also a scenic experience that is reward enough. The clubhouse is easily accessible from the resort and you have access to caddies, motorized golf carts as well as a well-stocked Pro-Shop. Light meals are served in the golf lounge and on the magnificent verandah which overlooks the golf course and the mountains beyond.

Beechwood Country Club:
Founded in 1929, Beechwood is situated next to the sea and the first nine holes meander through high dunes interspersed with mangrove swamps. It is an area so enchanting that it has been proclaimed a nature reserve and a national monument. In 1994, the Gary Player Design Company was commissioned to completely remodel the 18 holes. The first nine holes running through the dunes, swamps and indigenous bush are now outstanding. The back nine at Beechwood is far more open than the outward loop and has a links quality about it.

SUGGESTED PROGRAMME:

DAY 1:
Golfers arrive at arranged meeting point in Durban for departure on a luxury coach to Mystery Golf Course . The coach is then routed via low ranking golf course (eg. Durban Public Course) where golfers will ‘reluctantly' disembark the bus and get ready for golf. We then get them back on the coach, with further ‘guessing games' (and possibly another decoy stop at another golf course) and then transfer them to Bosch Hoek County Club where a welcome breakfast is waiting from them and is followed by 18 holes of golf. After golf and a few drinks (by this time the golfers have had plenty of opportunity to get to know each other and the spirits are usually quite high!), we then transfer by coach to Champagne Sports Resorts for 2 nights accommodation. Check in is followed by dinner and prize giving.

Optional Extras :
Coach windows can be blacked out as part of the mystery theme and can also be branded with company logo and cartoons. Hostess girls can accompany group and serve light refreshments en-route; a CD can play welcome message and music for the transfer. Dinner can be a themed dinner or entertainment can be provided.

DAY 2:
After breakfast, an early morning tee-off for 36 holes of fantastic golf at Champagne Sports Resort (depending on group size and time of year 18-holes may only be permitted). After golf & a few drinks at the club house, dinner served at the hotel. Overnight at Champagne Sports Resort.

Optional Extras :
Hostess girls can assist on the tee boxes getting golfers started and can serve refreshments on the course. Professional shoulder massages can be arranged to relax tired muscles. Braai evening can be arranged and/or entertainment options can be incorporated.

DAY 3:
After breakfast (alternatively, breakfast packs can be arranged), an early morning departure back to Durban in luxury bus to play 18 holes of golf at Beechwood Country Club . After prize giving, golfers are transported back to the selected meeting point.
