The Eastern Cape Province offers tourists who want to get away from the bustle of city life the chance for a seaside escape without equal. It's a destination with over 800 kilometres of spacious, unspoiled and largely uncrowded beaches , sparkling blue ocean and magnificent forest and scenery.

Two major Port Cities of the Eastern Cape are Port Elizabeth and East London , which offer all the amenities of a large city but still maintain a holiday resort atmosphere.

The coastal areas between Jeffrey's Bay and Port Alfred are reputedly some of the best surfing spots in the world, with magnificent waves and swells to offer the best thrills of this sport. Anglers and divers will also delight at the vast marine resources this Indian Ocean coastline can offer. The coast from East London to Port St Johns offers one of the most unspoiled and remote beaches in the world.

Other cities in the province are Grahamstown , steeped in settler history, King Williams Town , Queenstown with its beautiful roses, and Umtata, capital of the old Transkei region.

The Eastern Cape has scenery varying from sub-tropical coastal zones and dense indigenous forests to semi-arid Karoo plains. The north eastern section of this province offers some of the best trout fishing in the country.

A number of game reserves and nature reserves occur in this province, the most notable being the Addo Elephant National Park supporting the last vestiges of Eastern Cape Elephant, black and white Rhino, Buffalo and many other game species. Other Reserves are Zuurberg National Park, Buffelspruit Game Reserve, Die Berg Nature Reserve, Karoo Nature Reserve (in the Valley of Desolation), Mountain Zebra National Park and Tsitsikama National Park .
